Q: What are your business hours? A: 24/7 365 days a year
Q: Can I come off this Bond?
A: Not so fast! The states of NC & SC have 7 legal reasons we are able to revoke a bond and just because feelings change isn't a reason! So here are the 7 legal reasons we have to revoke a bond. (Keep in mind we need hardcore legal irrefutable proof, not just because you say so):1-Leaves State/Country without permission.2-Non-Payment of Premium.3-Provides any false information about failure to appear in court, past convictions, or pending charges.
4- Provides a false name or alias or provides incorrect identification of any kind.5-Violates any court order.6-Physically hides from the surety in any way.7-Changes their address without notifying the surety prior to their relocation. Q: Why won't you write my bond for 1%,2%,3%, or 4% in NC? Why do your agents charge so much?
A: We are responsible for the bond and capture of the defendant if they don't show up just as much as the cosigner. You are asking to borrow money you are unable, or unwilling to place with the courts. If you ask a bank for that loan amount they require the full amount paid, plus interest. We only ask for an insurance deductible that covers a maximum of 15% (NC legally allowed maximum amount) of the amount you ask us to borrow on your, and the defendants behalf. That's a steal, plus, all of our agents are a business and don't work for free. The agents are also liable for the amount you request, so this is not unreasonable.
Q: Why is my rate between 10% and 15% in South Carolina? Why Can’t You offer me payments?
A: Per the new 2025 SC Laws: Chapter 53, Title 38
The bond premium may not exceed fifteen percent of the face amount of the bond.
(B) A bondsman must charge and collect a minimum fee of one hundred dollars or ten percent of the bond, whichever is greater, before the execution of the bond.
(C) Payment agreements are permitted for amounts in excess of ten percent of the bond but are otherwise prohibited.
Q: Is my bond premium refundable?
A: NO. Unless we surrender a bond for anything other than the 7 reasons listed above, which justify cause, and without justifiable legal reasons, NO.
Q: What type of collateral will you take?
A: Cash & Real Estate Property. We will NEVER take anything besides these two items as collateral.
Q: Do you take checks?
A: No. We only accept CASH, Credit Cards, Venmo, Zelle, Apple/Samsung Pay, and Chime. We will accept a Cashier’s check from your bank made out to Jax Bonding or a USPS money order as they are both FDIC insured. We will not cash your personal checks and don’t accept payroll checks as payment either.
Q: Do you really hold the co-signer liable for the bond?
A: Yes, we do. When you meet us at the jail, you sign an application guaranteeing our company and the State of NC and/ or SC you will be responsible for ensuring the defendant goes to court and if not, you will provide the FULL AMOUNT OF the bond to the state if they miss court and not returned to custody.
Q: Can I pay off my bond early?
A: You sure can! Click on the payment links or give us a call and pay off your bond in full!
Q: I went to court, and my case is closed, do I get my Bond Premium back?
A: NO. Your Bond Premium is nonrefundable; it is used to pay the loan that was obtained by the insurance company to post your bond AND pay your bondsman for their time and work on your case. We are a business, not a charity.
Q: How old do I have to be to sign the bond?
A: Full time employed and over 18 Years Old with a VALID government ID
Q: My defendant didn't go to court, so I don't want to be the cosigner anymore.
A: Sorry, not how that works. We thoroughly stress before you sign, while you sign and after you sign, as the Co-Signer YOU are being held responsible for the defendant. You need to be able to keep tabs on your defendant, that is YOUR responsibility, and it doesn't end until the case is dismissed and signed off by a judge.
Q: Can I go out of state/country once out on Bond?
A: Nope. You need to stay in weekly contact with your Bondsman as directed and discuss any travel plans with them and your attorney in Full! You are not allowed to leave the state upon release.
Q: Why do you need me to fill out an application that's so long?
A: You asked us for the money to bond your defendant or yourself out and we need to know where to collect the amount in full if the client runs away! Plus, we write a lot of bonds and can't remember everything about everyone, so this helps us keep track. However, it’s not nice to lie, so if you do not provide true and accurate information upon release it is a reason to revoke your bond. So be honest with us as we are with you.
Q: Do you really need my social security number and birthdate?
A: Yes, these are kept internally and not shared with anyone other than the State during an audit and is a required part of the process. You are asking us for a loan to bond out of jail, and just like everything else you are borrowing money for, this is a requirement, the difference is we utilize it for identity verification NOT a credit check.
